I’m thinking of doing my research on the gap between teacher’s practice and teacher’s beliefs, maybe focusing on inquiry. I’m increasingly interested in this gap generally as teachers are expected to implement initiatives that they have had little input into developing and which can seem like a ‘one size fits all’, when we know that that’s not the case. There’s probably something in there about teacher’s voice too and how teacher’s are able to ‘wriggle within the skin’ of directives or even resist the directive power of government intiatives. With the national strategies coming to an end it will be interesting to see how teacher’s work is boundaried and what freedom is found. I’m due to finish part 1 of my EdD in the summer and then start do the research as Part 2. If anyone’s interested in trying it, have a loo at the University of Sheffield‘s website.
